Name of Project:
Ocean Protocol: Georgia (the country)
Proposal in one sentence:
We are interested in promotion of the Ocean Protocol ecosystem in Georgia, including education, community engagement, social media and translation of key documents into the Georgian language.
Description of the project and what problem is it solving:
Our goal is to bring awareness and education about the data economy, and how Ocean Protocol fits into the data economy, to the Georgian people. The communities we believe will be the most interested are the cryptocurrency, blockchain, software development and university communities.
We aim to set the stage for a thriving Ocean community in Tbilisi, Georgia. We will begin with a solid foundation of educational content, social media presence focused on Georgia and an in-person launch event.
We plan to take a multi-pronged approach to engage the relevant communities in Tbilisi and make Ocean Protocol a focus of their ongoing projects and efforts.

Which category best describes your project?
Outreach / community / spread awareness
What is the final product?
The final product is a thriving and engaged community in Georgia that puts Ocean Protocol at the forefront of their new and existing projects.
We hesitate to use the word “final” because we see this as an ongoing effort. We encourage you to view this proposal as the first of many that will build upon each other with time.
**Question on “value add” criteria: which one or more of the criteria will your project focus on? Why do you believe your team will do well on those criteria? **
We see the growth and engagement of the Georgian community benefitting Ocean Protocol in several ways:
- With proper awareness and education about the data economy, we believe the community will find creative ways to introduce and create new solutions that benefit Ocean.
- Viability: 95%+. Barring an unforeseen cataclysm, there is no reason these tasks won’t be able to be completed.
- Community activeness: We are heavily engaged in the cryptocurrency/blockchain, entrepreneurial, expat and university communities in Georgia. It should be easy for us to tap our existing connections to gain some traction and create some momentum.
- We will quantify our results after the first month in as many areas as we can–followers, attendees, likes, etc. to give us a benchmark and provide some guidance for future proposals (both our own proposals and the proposals of others).

Proposal Details
Georgia (the country, not the US state) has become an international “hotspot” for cryptocurrency and blockchain enthusiasts. The combination of favorable laws for immigrants, favorable laws for business owners, favorable taxes and low cost of living makes it a perfect storm of opportunity.
Georgia even has one of the most generous tourist visas in the world–365 days visa free (for most people). It is an ideal destination for those working remotely on crypto and blockchain projects with Georgia’s robust entrepreneurial community.
The Georgian language is unique. It is one of the oldest in the world and does not share an alphabet with any other language. Being able to communicate the benefits of Ocean Protocol to the Georgian community in their native language is a critical component to greater adoption in the region.
Category "Outreach / community"
- 20 blog posts will be published in Georgian at https://medium.com/@hourglasslabs
- Community launch event will be hosted mid-January
- Translation and community building on Twitter, Telegram, Medium and other appropriate channels
We prefer quality over quantity (we don’t believe we need to be on EVERY social media network), but we understand that having a few different ways for people to engage with us is important. The channels we plan to use to engage the community are the following:
- Medium: 20 posts translated into Georgian
- Telegram
- MeetUp
- Traditional media outreach for event coverage
- Other options if the community shows interest in them: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord, additional in-person events, webinars or online events, a monthly newsletter
Project Deliverables - Roadmap
The roadmap will be a month-to-month decision. Our intention is to make this a productive and ongoing relationship, and we expect that some changes will need to be made along the way. We will address those changes on a monthly basis and submit them here for comments and feedback with each new proposal.
We will publish a review at the end of the month with relevant statistics, such as the numbers of members in each community channel, number of attendees at events, number of views on Medium posts, etc.
Our intention is to continue our work after the initial setup and launch is complete during the first month. We will address that in future proposal(s) because we need to manage the first things first and make sure we are setting ourselves up for success.
